A permanently endowed Weatherford College scholarship fund is being established in honor of Richard “Andy” Loller, Jr., the Weatherford firefighter who died June 10 while fighting a wildfire in West Texas.

The estate of Mary M. Zielinksi is establishing the fund with a $10,000 gift to the WC Foundation. The Richard “Andy” Loller, Jr. Scholarship will benefit students in WC’s Fire Science Technology program.

Loller spent 16 years in fire service, including 12 years in Hudson Oaks and four in Weatherford. The 42-year-old is survived by his wife and two children.
“Our hearts go out to the Loller family and the firefighting community,” said Debbie Alexander, Zielinksi’s daughter and an administrator of the estate. “We hope this scholarship will benefit many future firefighters over the years and help keep Mr. Loller’s memory alive.”

The Zielinksi estate also helped establish an endowed scholarship fund in honor of Mike Brown, the beloved WC agriculture instructor and rodeo coach who died in a 2015 accident. After the Loller endowment is established, the Zielinski estate will have given $50,000 in scholarship monies to the WC Foundation.
