DESCRIPTION:Tarleton State University's yearlong celebration marking 100 years as a founding member of the Texas A&M University System kicks off Monday\, Jan. 23\, with an exhibit of historical items dating back to 1917 in the gallery of the Clyde H. Wells Fine Arts Center. A reception begins at 4:00 p.m. on opening day.\n\n \n\nItems for the centennial exhibit highlight Tarleton's history since joining the A&M System and chronicle the university's growth over the past century. The exhibit includes artifacts from Dick Smith Library archives\, photos provided by the Cross Timbers Historic Images Project\, records from the Grassburr the university's official yearbook and J-TAC News\, the school's student-run newspaper\, as well as items on loan from various Tarleton departments.\n\n \n\nIn addition to images\, documents and artifacts from Tarleton's early history\, the exhibit traces the evolution of the school's Stephenville campus and offers a look at student life during the past 100 years. Early military uniforms worn by cadets and other regalia will be on display.\n\n\n\nFor more centennial happenings including an international rocket competition this summer\, a birthday party in September and a concert in November at the Nancy Lee and Perry R.
