Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration on May 5 commemorating the Mexican Army's unlikely defeat over the French Empire at the 1862 Battle of Puebla. In the U.S.\, the holiday has become a celebration of Mexican-American culture. The W.K. Gordon Center for Industrial History of Texas\, a Tarleton museum and research facility in the historic ghost town of Thurber\, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
