DESCRIPTION:Weatherford College is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its Alumnus of the Year Award\, and the public is invited to a reception honoring the award's past honorees. The reception is scheduled for 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday\, April 21\, in the Speaker Jim Wright Library on WC's main campus. The reception will precede WC's annual Alumni Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. in the Doss Student Center.\n\n\n\n"As we approach our college's 150th anniversary\, it reminds us of the importance of our alumni in our past\, present and future success\," said Brent Baker\, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. "There are 50 amazing people on this list of honorees\, and many of them will be here on April 21." The first recipient of the award\, Zoe Switzer McCrary\, graduated in 1899. From Speaker of the House Jim Wright\, to World War II General William Hood Simpson\, to business leaders and philanthropists James and Dorothy Doss\, the list of honorees is impressive. "In my mind\, one of the best ways to evaluate a college is its alumni   what they accomplished after they left\," Baker said. "This list of honorees speaks for itself.
