Hood County Sesquicentennial Celebration

The Hood County Historical Commission invites all residents, new and old, to come celebrate Hood County's 150th Birthday. Be ready for free cake, live music, and old fashioned fun on the Square for a Sesquicentennial Celebration!

U.S.P.S. Special Postal Cancellation: Hood County 150 Years, Historic Clothing Information Table, and a Display of Quilt Tops made by Local School Children for the Sesquicentennial.

First come first serve: Free BBQ in celebration of the Sesquicentennial!

Music, Cowboy Poet Steve Wood, and a Nellie Robertson tribute by Lori Kaspar at 4:00 PM.

·        Cow Chip Toss - distance and accuracy
·        Horseshoe Pitching
·        Three Legged Race
·        Best Dressed Contest at the Texas Heroes table
·        Come and Take It Cannon Game at Texas Heroes table
·        Tie Dye Bandannas with the Granbury Arts Alliance
·        Safety and Emergency Preparedness Displays by Constable Precinct 4 and the Community Emergency Response Team
·        Groundwater Cycle Display by the Upper Trinity Groundwater District
·        Veteran's PTSD information from Pecan Valley Centers
·        Master Gardener's of Hood County Information Table
·        A variety of Hood County History Books and Sesquicentennial T-Shirts will be available for purchase.  J.C. Campbell will be on hand to autograph his book of illustrations.
·        Sons of Confederate Veterans, Hiram Granbury Chapter will present Civil War information.

Activities in Lambert Park:
·        Historic Granbury Light Plant - watch the giant engines in action courtesy of the Granbury Flywheelers.
·        Hoop and Stick Rolling
·        Potato Sack Race
·        Egg and Spoon Race
·        Three Legged Race
·        Rag Doll Making
