The Granbury Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met recently to review all of the nominations submitted by the membership and selected the following recipients for the 2020-2021 Best of Business Awards:
Pivotal Excellence - Granbury ISD and Lake Granbury Medical Center
(Successfully adapted business strategy during and after COVID and met additional challenges related to maximizing employee retention and the ability to serve customers, while growing the business.)  According to Chamber President/CEO, Brian Bondy, “the Chamber’s Board of Directors felt strongly that both of these businesses, while facing differing situations operationally, were able to go above and beyond the call of duty during and throughout the pandemic.”
Women in BusinessKristi Dobbins, Lakeside Physicians and Roxanne Laney, Arts & Letters Bookstore
(Female business owner or employee who exemplifies business excellence and commitment to empowering fellow women in business.)  The board members commented on how each of these successful women in business have built or are continuing to build their organizations and taking them to the next level.
Granbury Young ProfessionalMatt Bufkin, First National Bank and Steven Kuban, The Kuban Firm  (Business owner or employee, age 21-40, who exemplifies business excellence and commitment to empowering fellow GYPs and collaboration with the business community.)  These two professionals have made a significant commitment to help make Granbury better by living here, working here, raising their families here and being involved in the community.  Bondy noted, “these young professionals are just the tip of the iceberg for the next wave of outstanding community leaders.”
Rising Star AwardBrew Drinkery and Hotel Lucy  (Organization with less than 3 years in business serving the Hood County area, that demonstrates business excellence.)  The chamber’s directors noted that opening AND growing hospitality-driven businesses is challenging in and of itself; however, opening and growing their businesses in the past and current environment speaks volumes of their commitment to Granbury.
Company Culture AwardDaffan Cooling & Heating and Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill
(Organization that intentionally cultivates a positive environment, values employees as assets rather than an expense item, models work/life balance, and is known internally and externally as a "very desired place to work".)  Professional, community-minded, positive impact and deeply committed were some of the terms used by the chamber’s directors as they selected these two businesses.
Howard Clemmons Person of the Year AwardJohn Henry & Marilyn Luton
(Business or community member who best represents Howard's unselfish dedication and devotion to the business community of Hood County.) The unanimous support of John Henry and Marilyn Luton by the Chamber’s Board of Directors was indicative of their community presence and involvement, and, in their discussions felt that this recognition was long overdue.
