For the week ending November 13, 2020, there were 23 positive COVID-19 cases in Granbury ISD since the last update.  These included 5 students and 2 staff members at Granbury High School, 2 students at Acton Middle School, 1 staff at Baccus Elementary School, 1 staff member at Brawner Elementary School, 2 students and 1 staff member at Oak Woods School, 4 students and 3 staff members at STEAM Academy at Mambrino, and 2 Administration staff members. For the school year, there have been 116 total cases and are now 33 active cases.
Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the names or details that may identify these individuals.
The district followed state and local protocols in notifying parents by email of the positive tests. Parents who did not receive an email should contact their student’s campus to ensure the school district has current contact information available in Skyward.
The district notified the local health authority Dr. David Blocker regarding all cases and followed recommendations from the Texas Education Agency.
Per Dr. Blocker, “close contact” generally means being within 6 feet of an infected individual for at least 15 minutes without a mask or face covering.  So, if students or staff are wearing a mask and are exposed to a positive COVID-19 individual, they are not necessarily considered close contact.
Students testing positive for COVID-19 may return to school after 10 days of self-isolation, at least 24 hours of no fever without taking fever-reducing medicine, and improvement of symptoms.
While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, to watch for symptoms of COVID-19.
All parents, students, and staff members should remain aware of symptoms that indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:
•          Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;
•          Cough;
•          Sore throat;
•          Diarrhea;
•          Nausea or vomiting;
•          Headache
•          Loss of taste or smell;
•          Difficulty breathing;
•          Shortness of breath
•          Fatigue;
•          Chills;
•          Congestion or runny nose;
•          Shaking or exaggerated shivering;
•          Significant muscle pain or ache.
Operations at schools will continue with current safety protocols in place.
